Frequently Asked Questions About Treatments
Answers to common questions about IPL Photorejuvenation and Non-Ablative Fraxel procedures.
Both IPL Photorejuvenation and Non-Ablative Fraxel target pigmentation, sunspots, redness, broken capillaries, uneven texture, enlarged pores and fine lines. IPL treats vascular and pigment issues; Fraxel creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen and improve texture and tone over time.
Most clients need a series of 3–6 treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Individual needs vary by skin concern and response; your clinician will recommend a personalized schedule during the consultation.
Treatments are generally well tolerated. You may feel snapping or warming sensations; topical numbing is available for Fraxel to enhance comfort. Mild redness and swelling are common but typically resolve within days to a week.
Downtime varies: IPL typically causes minimal downtime—mild redness and temporary darkening of spots—while non-ablative Fraxel may require a few days of redness and peeling. Most people resume normal activities within 1–7 days depending on intensity.
Darker skin types require careful evaluation. IPL carries higher risk of hyperpigmentation; non-ablative Fraxel settings can be adjusted for safety. Our clinicians perform thorough assessments and test patches to choose the most appropriate, low-risk protocol for your skin tone.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks; stop topical retinoids and bleaching agents as advised. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and active tanning products. Your clinician will give specific pre-treatment instructions at consultation.
